Introduction

Visiting Ruca Malén, Zuccardi, Clos de Chacras, Alta Vista, Cobos and Melipal.

Flight 1 - Ruca Malén (3 Notes)

Beautiful vineyard and excellent food.

Flight 2 - Zuccardi (3 Notes)

Tasting session is not worthy as they will only offer you their Sta Julia basic label. On the other hand, the pic-nic in the beautiful garden is a must.

    Black pepper, spices, ripe fruits, flowers and Oak. Really gorgeous on the nose. Full bodied. Tasty. With more spices, fruity, oak, round tannins and long aftertaste. Very surprised. Doesn't seem to have 15,5% alc. Really good. It paired well with the picnic. Exotic and different that is totally worthy the experiment. 91+

Flight 3 - Clos de Chacras (2 Notes)

Boutique producer (less than 60,000 bottles/year). Simple, but very nice installations with honest food.

    Needs 2 hour decanting.
    Popped and poured.
    Very tight one nose with floral notes (lavender?). It started to open after 30 min with ripe fruits and mild oak. Full bodied, tight with round tannins. This is too young now, but has structure ti evolve for the next 10 years. Drink from 2017. 89 now.

    Tobacco, floral notes, ripe , smoky scents. On the palate, blackcurrant, full bodied, elegant, round tannins, oak is very well used and fruity character prevails. Very good.

Flight 4 - Alta Vista (4 Notes)

60 pesos to taste their 2007 ALTO is not bad....the bottle costs USD 120 at the winery...but the wine is really impressive. The picnic is really great.

    Lots of sweet chocolate on the nose and sweet vanilla. . . . Very nice. On the palate, this is full bodied, round tannins. Easy drinking and tasty. Goes very well with food.

    Very typical on the nose with lots of lychees. A bit diluted on the palate comparing with prevoius vintages I had before. Fresh an good acidity.

    One of the best Argentinean wines I've ever had. Deep and complex on the nose with liquorice, oak, ripe fruits, spices. Really gorgeous. On the palate this full bodied, elegant, extremely refined tannins and long aftertaste. Surprised it has 15% alc. Astonishing. 93+

Friendly service and the wines are excellent. No restaurant here...just tasting.

Flight 6 - Melipal (5 Notes)

Beautiful property with excellent food.

    It's called 2 barricas (2 barrels) because the fermentation takes place in oak barrels for 18 months and the aging is also in new French oak barrels for another 18 months.
    Gorgeus on the nose. . . .deep, anise, powerful floral notes. Full bodied, juicy, elegant, complex. Limited to 570 bottles only. Excellent. Will evolve for the next 10 years. 92+

    Very floral on the nose with ripe blueberries. On the palate, it is full bodied, slightly astringent, ripe, medium aftertaste. Very good.
