Introduction
Event is a showcase of Rieslings from several Great Southern producers. Served with freshly shucked Albany oysters.
There were other wines on offer that I did taste, but these were the stand outs and the ones that I wrote notes for.

I was using the spittoon as I drew the short straw and had to drive. None-the-less, exceptional wines and an excellent, low-key atmosphere for a wine novice. Oooh and the oysters were delicious.
2002 Trevelen Farm Riesling 85 Points

Light gold in colour and smells like toast with a sweaty undertone. Very intense dry flavour with little residual sugar. I'm inexperienced with Riesling, but I think that this wine will need a little more time.

2004 Trevelen Farm Riesling 85 Points

Light gold in colour and aroma is barely there, toast and a hint of fruit. Dry, rounded flavour. Will need more time.

2011 Trevelen Farm Riesling 90 Points

Light, pale straw. Light fruit on the nose. I was surprised at the amount of spice from this wine. It is dry but there is a slight sweetness there that maybe suggests it would cellar well.

2011 Howard Park Riesling Porongurup 90 Points

Pale straw colour, light floral nose. Slight spice and well rounded on palate. Perfect for a hot Australian summer day now, or could easily be kept for another 15-20.

Golden colouring. Pungent odour of petrol and sweat. Smooth but intense flavour. If this is what aged Rieslings become then I'm hooked.

2011 Castle Rock Estate Riesling 93 Points

Pale straw, and floral nose. Crisp, clean citrus flavours. Acidic but not overwhelming. Great wine.

2001 Plantagenet Riesling 89 Points

Quite light, straw colouring. Slight kerosene on the nose. Citrus flavour is there but has been overtaken with a smoothness. Small amount of acid left.

2011 Plantagenet Riesling 93 Points

Winner of Best Wine in the Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia. Pale straw colour. Crisp citrus and acid on the tongue. Would expect cellar for at least 15 years, possibly more.
