Wonderful Barolo (and piedmonte) tasting at Delicado wines...presented by Elisa Scavino and Patrick Fox (from Fox beverages, Scavino's importer)
Tasting notes are a bit meh as I was stuffing my face!
spinach linguini and scampi, lovely - good with the vino rosso but the tannin from the nebbiolo was problematic
Oven Roasted Portobello and Red Pine Mushrooms with fresh ricotta...second only to truffles and wild boar...both of the wines were jolly nice with this dish
Osso bucco with truffled mash and veg...Mmm...
three cheeses - a testun di barolo, tallegio (meh) and a pecorino with black truffle...v.pleasant
Elisa was a wonderful talker and even kindly put up with my annoying questions about botte and barriques and soil types and production methods and roero...It was a lovely evening...
2010 Paolo Scavino Vino Rosso
Italy, Piedmont, Vino da Tavola
Nose: predominantly cherry notes with hint of plum
Mouth: cherry and plum, clean and juicy (medium plus acidity, medium tannin but plenty of front of mouth phenolic grip)
Nice, simple but drink young as...
