Introduction

The first Global World Offline Online event was held today. A great introduction to multiple online video attendance. An attempt was made to standardize the wines and there was some overlap which led to fun conversation.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2009 Stags' Leap Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 88 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    Decanted for 2 hours. Very little nose. A really soft palate with little tannin. Surprised this is a 2009 vintage. Ready to drink now. A bit on the jammy side. Lots of blackberry and dark fruits. Easy to drink but not very complex. Would drink over the next 2-3 years.

  • 2009 Force Majeure Cabernet Sauvignon Collaboration Series V Ciel du Cheval Vineyard 92 Points

    USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain

    Decanted 2 hours.

    This is some really nice stuff. Bit of cinnamon and spice on the nose. A very rich palate with dark fruit, blueberry and milk chocolate. This is absolutely ready to go right now. Not sure if it is a long term ager or not. Would be drinking and enjoying these over the next 3-5 years.

  • 2006 d'Arenberg Cabernet Sauvignon The Coppermine Road 90 Points

    Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

    Decanted 2 hours.

    Big nose of dark fruits, some vanilla with a bit of alcohol heat. Dark cherry palate with a bit too much acidity at this phase. Strong tannins. This wine should benefit from a few more years of cellar time. It was mentioned that there is a blueberry background flavor which made us wonder whether there is some shiraz in the blend. Overall an enjoyable wine and worthwhile if it can be found in the $35-45 range. This should easily last for 5+ more years and drink well.
