Gorgeous nose of ripe cherries. Juicy, complex palate of ripe cherries, cinnamon, clove and roses. Clearly California but not overdone and with nice acidity. (my 2nd, group's overwhelming 1st)
Reticent nose, some cranberry. Great palate, ripe cranberries and tart cherries, nice acidity. Paired perfectly with the roast duck. I agree with Burghound that this is surprisingly ripe both for the vintage and the level. What a nice discovery. (my 1st, group's 3rd)
Opened and decanted 10 hours before serving. Nice, lighter port with sweet red fruit, roasted nuts and walnut skin. Showing a bit more alcohol than I would prefer, but otherwise a very nice drink.
