Got to show some love for this wine, excellent juice. Color is solid gold, looking more like an aged Chardonnay. Nose is pear and apple with spice. The flavor and complexity are impressive. Initially baked pear turning to green apple begin the show but is the mid palate that releases the clove and baking spices. There is a hint of petrol at the ending. The finish is enormous, one of the longest for a white. Light heavy weight feel but not cloy. This is a red wine drinkers white.
This cork put up a fight and finally split in half requiring surgery to extract it. Still fairly dark color. Dusty nose and muted dark fruit. Palate was in fully swing, showing much more like an aged Bordeaux than a California Cabernet Sauvignon with an earthy mid palate in perfect balance with the fruit and soft tannins.
This vintage seems to be the weaker of the mid 90's for aging. The color was significantly lighter with some orange highlights. Nose was dominated by toasted oak and the fruit was extremely light on the palate. Thin mouthfeel, almost watery and no acid or tannins to speak of. If you have this wine, drink up, and let the 94 or 99 rest longer instead.

Up front fruit on the attack with a light toast and rounded tannins. You'd never guess this was a 14 year old California wine if tasted blind. Is stored properly, this has another 10 years ahead of it.
