    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

    Some sulfur on the nose. Fruity - pear, ripe red & yellow apples, soft spices. Very plush on the palate. Decent but not exceptional structure. Lots of apple and pear. Somewhat fat. Nose - 4/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 4/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 13.5/20.

    Definitely superior to the Himmelreich Kabinett. Again, a touch of sulfur on the nose - herbal, not as sweet or ripe as the GH. Spicy with some sweet lime. Similar on the palate - really excellent drive with lime, brown spice, nice acid - somewhat lively with good balance. Delicious. Lots of minerals and spice on the finish. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 16/20.

    Lots of sulfur. Behind that is a nose of honey, white grapes, lime, slate and smoke. Similar on the palate, showing much more sweet as the WS Kabinett and not as much lift at this point. Maybe this will resolve and mature to be superior to the Kabinett, but I am not sure. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 4/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14/20.

    From 375ml. Now this is the real deal. Lots of pear, brown spice and lime on the nose. Just great on the palate - sweet but balanced with tons of ripe green and red apples, spice and lime. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17/20.

    A treat at this free tasting from the cellar of Justin C. Old riesling nose - old spices, cider, pear, straw, and great acid. Definitely maturing and with some standard age oxidative notes. Perfect meld of maturity and electricity on the palate with tart apple, lime, baking spices, mineral and steel. Electric and lively. How does this wine taste so mature and yet so acidic and exciting at the same time? Thanks Justin! Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.
