Introduction

we gathered 11 wine lovers at Coffe-Bar to enjoy some quality Bourgogne bottles.

  • 2008 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

    Light golden straw color.
    Expressive mineral and fresh citrus-lime aroma with some green apple.
    Med-bodied, sharp & elegant, well balanced, good harmony, citrus & green apple flavors, nice minerality, pleasant medium ending. Can age beautifully 3-6 years more.

  • 2005 Pierre André au Château de Corton André Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets 87 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru

    Still very young and not integrated yet. Very masculine.
    Pleasant earthy nose with cherries and strawberries aromas.
    Full bodied, grip tannins, very tight, medium balance and harmony, dusty fruity flavours; medium finish. Requires further ageing of 4-8 years to integrate.

  • 2005 Domaine des Lambrays Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Loups 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru

    Still very young and tannic.
    Sour red cherries, tobacco & hints of spices on the elegant feminine nose.
    Med-full Bodied with tight & firm tannins, cherries, cranberries, hints of black pepper and spiciness, with some earthiness. Medium finish & harmony; requires more time to integrate; likely to improve with further ageing of 3-6 years.

  • 2002 Faiveley Latricières-Chambertin 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru

    Uncorked 2 hours and lowered to low shoulder 2 hours in advance.
    Elegant nose of cherries and strawberries, with some spicy dustiness.
    Secondary aromas start to show, but the wine seems rather young.
    Still tight & closed with firm tannins. Med-full bodied, medium balanced, quite masculine, powerful with fruity flavors. Medium ending.
    Requires further 5-10 years of ageing to reach optimal potential.

  • 1996 Domaine Dujac Charmes-Chambertin 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

    Medium dark cherry garnet red.
    Delicate elegant secondary & tertiary nose of raspberry, cherry and plum accompanied by leathery-earth forest floor. Some cocoa & espresso notes as well.
    Though seductive, less than expected on the palate: at or a bit beyond its peak, fully mature, somewhat lean, but still enjoyable now.
    medium bodied palate shows balance, depth and class on medium to long finish where the tannins are mostly resolved. a little short on the finish but the nose is great.

  • 2003 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru

    dark cherry garnet red.
    Delicate elegant quality feminine nose of cherry and plum accompanied by leathery-earth forest floor.
    Rich, full-body, well-integrated tannins, well balanced, great harmony, well structured, expresses silent power, young with excellent further ageing potential.

Closing

It was a very enjoyable gathering, with smart quality wines, tasty starting dishes, though only few took main course.
The main (known) conclusion: quality Bourgogne are costly!
