An interesting and fairly priced range of Piemonte wines from a producer I'd never tried before. I would characterize them as modern in style and variable in quality.
2011 Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Dolcetto d'Alba
Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba
Deep color. Raspy cranberry aromatics. Pleasing body, crackling black fruit and herbs, good acidity. Nice feel with some oak, tannic finish.

2010 Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Barbera d'Alba
Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba
Light red. Perfumed nose. Light weight, bright with very high acidity. This was too thin and shrill for me.

2006 Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Barbera d'Alba Campo Del Gatto
Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba
Deeper than the 2010. Noticeable VA. Light weight, some wood, low toned red fruit, smooth entry and then a raspy acidic finish. Quintessentially Italian in its profile.

2007 Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Barolo
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Medium ruby. Supple, sweet fruit, gently oaky base. Some licorice and tar in a medium weight package. Pretty and very approachable now if not that deeply flavored or complex.

2003 Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Barolo Campo dei Buoi
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Medium center with lighter edge. Spice and ripe fruit on the nose. Carressing red fruit and anise, quite lush for Nebbiolo, in fact, almost liqueur-like. Finish fades. Seems just about fully mature.

2003 Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Barolo Riserva
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Garnet and faded. Deep cherry fruit, a whiff of VA. Lush but medium weight, good acidity, longer and more complete than the Campo dei Buoi. Lingering finish. Surprisingly good.

2006 Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Barolo Luigi Arnulfo
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Light ruby. The least fruit-driven aromatics of the 4 Baroli-scorched earth and savory tones. Much less fruity palate as well with complex tobacco and cocoa. Lowish but adequate acidity, wonderful feel. This was delicious and drinking very well.

NV Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia Barolo Chinato Luigi Arnulfo
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo Chinato
Tawny. Moderate sweetness with a bitter component as well. Intensely herbal with a juniper quality like acquavit. Burnt caramel on the finish. A unique digestif.
