Introduction
We bought a whole range of Clape Cornas at an auction. This is the first tasting. We started with some Burgundy.
2006 Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize-Leroy) Bourgogne-Aligoté Sous Chatelet 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Aligoté
Interesting nose (a bit like other quality Aligote I have tasted) with a complex sweet acidic tones. Taste begins lovely, citrus, spice, nuts. I am however a bit offset by the midpalate which after a good start appears empty and watery. One hour later the wine is retasted and the midpalate has filled with honey and blossems. All in all a lovely experience.

2009 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Charmes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Wine appears still young. Spicy nose, complex. Wonderfull taste, melon and peach, lots of extract, minerality, acidity in the background providing an excellent backbone, long finish. Somehow this wine seems still reserved and tight in the midpalate, if it opens here in future it will be even better.

1993 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 91 Points

Nose earthy and a bit rustic, light bodied, but taste lovely with a balanced acidity, sweet red fruit, hardly any tannins left. If I was told this to be a Burgundy I would believe it!

1994 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 87 Points

Nose rustic, still a lot of fruit, mushroom, medium bodied, tannins have mellowed. Acidity is allmost completely gone, making the wine taste tired and old, because there is hardly anything left in the backbone.

1990 Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 92 Points

The best of the Clape Cornas we had this evening. Mature wine, softened tannins, soft mainly red fruit, mushrooms, some leather, nice acidity, all balanced.

Earthy nose, a bit rustic. Taste also earthy, combined with spicy and mushroom tones. Fruit is more in the back. Good backbone of acidity and some tannins. Good wine.
