Introduction
12 of us gathered at my home to taste some wines that are perhaps not so commonly found. Most of these have been sourced directly from the wineries by me and the others bought from the country of origin.

All in all an excellent evening with weird and wonderful wines. The Croatian Plancic was WOTN hands down. Really have to get more of that!
2008 Château Rives-Blanques Crémant de Limoux Blanc de Blancs 89 Points
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Crémant de Limoux
Popped and poured at fridge temp. A very nice nutty, yeasty, toasty nose, not much fruit until you take a sip, then you have very nice citrus and gooseberry, excellent fruit. A very enjoyable cremant!

2009 Iločki Podrumi Traminac Vrhunsko Vino 89 Points

Popped and poured at fridge temp. Wow, this was very pungent on the nose, lots of flowery, gooseberry aromas, high flying. The palate was full-bodied, with apricotty tastes and some acidity, Very good, different and a unique experience.

2006 Domaine Plô Notre Dame Minervois 91 Points

Decanted for an hour. ooh, this has developed very nicely and is now entering its drinking window, lots of blackberry and plum, very round with some vanillary oak, very good on the nose. The palate showed integrated tannins, excellent smooth fruit, well balanced, excellent now and should get better with a few more years in the cellar.

2006 Plančić Plavac Mali Pharos Grand Cru Dubje 93 Points

Decanted for 1.5 hours. I've been waiting for this one and tonight was the night to open it. Fantastic bouquet of lavender, lingonberry, wonderfully complex, oozing with the blazing sun of Hvar, truly excellent! The palate followed, with lingonberry, bitter chocolate, lots of tannins, just great. This is ripe and ready now, but would surely go on for another decade easily.

2007 Domaine La Prade Mari Minervois Gourmandise des Bois 89 Points

Decanted for about 2 hours. This is a very nice wine, but lost out today to the two previous wines. Elegant, black berries, smooth tannins, lots of fruit on the nose and the palate, some chocolatey notes. A very pleasant wine, easy to drink, certainly well-made, but had a bit of an international feel to it. Very good in any case!

2005 Domaine Guirardel Jurançon 90 Points

Popped and poured at fridge temp. This has certainly developed over the years! The primary note was of pineapple, both on the nose and the palate, a very fresh wine with good acidity and quite lean sweetness, no botrytis character to it. Perfect at this point and went well with blueberry pie and ice cream.
