Hasn't moved much since the last bottle, still a bit difficult and yeasty, fresh enough but quite big and not really elegant or vibrant, length is good. I get the feeling the intrinsic quality is there but I still don't really get it.
A bit closed on the nose, but delicious aromas of smoky slate and citrus are revealed; fresh but ripe acidity, elegant weight (a perfect 12% ABV), wonderful balance and lovely, precise flavours of pink grapefuit, citrus, and peach, one senses the almost vibrating energy the terroir confers; very good length. A very successful dry Saar wine, drinking beautifully, will no doubt age well but I find it difficult to predict its development.
Excellent core of ripe fruit, cream; rosehip and undergrowth indicate some development, nice spicy warmth from the oak; lovely sweetness in the attack, refreshing but silky and elegant, nice weight, much softer and with less minerality than an equivalent Burgundy would have but very charming and balanced; very good length.
Gunderloch. Lovely honeyed sweet fruit, floral notes, ripe and rich, good weight of ripe fruit, intense and concentrated, red gravelly minerality, delicious acidity, very good length. Stunning.
