A night of searching for daily drinkers turned up a couple of viable candidates. For me the WOTN was the Tablas Creek, but the Guenoc showed well enough for consideration also,
2011 Starborough Sauvignon Blanc 85 Points
New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
Light style with a slight grassiness. Decent as a cocktail pour, and would work with very light fare.

2011 Seven Hills Winery Pinot Gris

Similar notes to the one a few days ago, served to the group for their reaction. Overall it was received as a pleasant cocktail wine. Not rated due to recent note and rating being similar.

2010 Columbia Crest H3 Les Chevaux 86 Points

Vanilla the dominant note, with a bit of heat in the finish. Medium to fuller bodied. Decent fruit, all the elements are there for a nice daily drinker with a short cellar.

Vanilla dominated wine, lighter style, dusty tannins. Bit of a one-note wine.

Oak dominated nose. Medium long finish, nice body. Balanced, another one where a short cellar would bring into focus. Will be good.

2010 Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas 88 Points

Lighter body syrah. Lacks the gaminess of the Northern Rhone, this is a fruit lover's blend. Not rough, not a fruit bomb, but simply a very pleasant easy drinking wine.

A petite syrah lover's wine. Pleasant, dark, with a very tannic finish which could use a couple of years to resolve. Suggest a couple hour decant rather then PNP on this wine,
