Introduction
Adam Lee hosted a seated dinner and tasting at the Dallas Zoo. It was a spectacular setting to enjoy some wine and watch the elephants.
2010 Novy Family Wines Pinot Noir Blanc de Noir 87 Points

I didn't see this poured and assumed from the name that it would be a sparkling wine, but it is not. Per Adam, there did not seem to be a more appropriate name for this style of wine. Slightly copper hued in the glass. A touch of oxidation on the nose. Medium bodied with a certain savory richness. Interesting.

2010 Siduri Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountains 88 Points

Translucent dark garnet in the glass. Smoky cherry nose and similar fruit on the palate with tangy acidity.

2011 Siduri Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard 92 Points

Translucent dark garnet in the glass. Candied cherry fruit on the nose with ripe bright cherry fruit on the palate. Nice length and texture. This along with the 2011 Garys' Pinot were my favorites of the evening.

2011 Siduri Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard

Slightly translucent dark garnet in the glass. Aromatically very similar to the Pisoni tasted alongside it with bright candied cherry fruit. Slightly more savory on the palate than the Pisoni but still ripe, approachable and supple.

2010 Novy Family Wines Syrah Page Nord

Pretty much opaque dark garnet in the glass. Rather smoky and funky nose with a peppery nuance. On the palate this has a bit of tannin and more smoky dark fruit. I actually preferred the regular Napa Valley Syrah to the single vineyard version at this tasting.

2010 Novy Family Wines Syrah Napa Valley 90 Points

Pretty much opaque dark garnet in the glass. Like a more refined sibling to the Page Nord bottling. Ripe smelling dark fruit on the nose with a touch of new leather. Medium-full bodied with supple texture. Good. Pretty good value.

Light gold in the glass. Sweet nectar nose with a hint of elmer's glue. Ripe sweet nectar on the palate. Easy to like.
