Another great show here. Needs a bit of decanting but aside from that it is singing at this stage. Lush wine, glycerin/waxy feel on the palate, ripe and round. Long finish. Beautiful wine and with long aging capacity. 93-94
A special wine to say the least nd does perplexe people when served blind. Decanted for 30 minutes mostly to help with the blind serving rather than to develop the wine which is open nd ready from the pop of the cork. Starts of light on the plte but builds into big body and finish. Very much true to SQN style it is 15.7% alc! Always an experience. 92-93
Needs decanting, like 30mins to open up but also to remove the fine sediment in the bottle. This is clearly one for the lovers of well aged claret, and following a discussion we had with another fellow CTer, for the ones who like the cedar nose on their wine. And for us this is the stuff we like. Well aged, good fruit and ful on mature. Once again a great showing from an 80s talbot. 95 drinks well now and have a few more years in the tank.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
4 years on since our first tasting of this wine and indeed it needed its time in bottle to evolve. Still at this stage in need like 30mins in a decanter to open and and show its burgandian character. On start it is a bit closed down and restrained. Once it develops it is full on ripe burgundian nose, very gevrey, light smoky feel. On th epalate the density of fruit is there, good extract, very Serafin. Juicy, medium bodied and very long. Another beautiful vintage from Serafin. 94 easy and just about entering its drinking window.
Decanted for 30 minutes. Good wine, very cabernet sauvignon wine. Light oaky feel, round, firm wine. Silky tannin. A bit on the easy side and low on complexity. Good wine but no magic here. 90
Good solid tokaji. Caramel/orange tint colour. Dense, supple, lush. Good age to be anjoyed now but has a long long life ahead of it. Light orange feel on the palate. ripe, viscous. Not the most complex tokaji but still very nice. 91
