Decided to have some wine friends for a dinner of grilled beef tenderloin and a tasting with dinner of: 1996 and 1997 Opus One, and a 1996 Beringer Private Reserve Bancroft Ranch, and 1997 Beringer Private Reserve. All wines from my cellar and stored at 55 since release. Finished the bottles after dinner on the patio. The 1996 Opus was my clear winner, but others liked the 1997 Beringer Pr. Res. Very different wines, as the Opus was very much a classic Bordeaux, while the 97 Beringer was still quite fruit forward. The 1997 Opus and Beringer Single Vineyard were debated for 3rd and 4th place. No decision
