  • 1998 Château Belloy 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Canon-Fronsac

    Decanted for 2 hours as I was told. Dark core with purple crimson hues, showing dark plum, earth and herbaceous. Still pretty firm with earth and dusty notes. Good lenth of finish and still tannic. But the fruits gradually faded towards the end.

  • 1996 Château L'Arrosée 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    Just double decant for around half hour before I brought to a wine dinner.
    Medium ruby with maturing hues, it opens nicely for tasting, elegant and subtle floral nose, along with blackcurrant and earth.
    Soft on palate with blackcurrant and tobacco, smooth and light to medium bodied, fine tannins with medium finish. A very enjoyable bottle.

  • 1998 Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco Rabajà 90 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco

    Dark colour, nose of some cherry and leather. Medium bodied, subtle and smooth. Drinking very well now as an aged Barberesco. Finishes long with grippy tannins.

  • 1999 Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 91 Points

    Australia, Tasmania, Coal River

    Still tight when pop and pour and it was decanted for 1+hours during dinner.
    It has a dark garnet core with brick red hues showing its age, and the nose is very well integrated with dark plum, eucalyptus, earthiness and hints of oak. Showing good intensity on palate, with blackcurrant, earthiness and some mintiness. End with a pretty nice finish. Aged nicely and holding very well.

Flight 3 - A surprise red (1 Note)

  • 2001 Tahbilk Shiraz 1860 Vines 91 Points

    Australia, Victoria, Central Victoria, Nagambie Lakes

    This was also double decanted for around half an hour at home before brought to the dinner, and it opened nicely during the tasting.
    The colour is not strong but it has a youthful crimson hues, plum and cherry on the nose with hints of vanilla oak and some peppery notes.
    Sweet fruits entry along with cherry , plum and peppery spice. It has fresh acidity, elegant mouthfeel and seamless midpalate. End with long finish and fine tannins.

Flight 4 - Sweet duo (2 Notes)

  • 1999 Marcel Deiss Pinot Gris Vendanges Tardives 91 Points

    France, Alsace

    Bright amber, a complex nose with honey, mineral and slight hints of oxidative. Exhibits a complex palate too, honey, smoke, peach and apricot. It has good intensity with moderate sweetness. End with a nice and long finish.

  • 2008 Schlossgut Diel Dorsheimer Goldloch Riesling Spätlese 90 Points

    Germany, Nahe

    Light straw colour which is quite a contrast compare to 1999 Marcel Deiss Pinot Gris Vendanges Tardives. Fresh and lifted nose, mineral, smokey notes and some honey sugar cane as well. Moderate sweetness, smooth and has fresh acidity.
