BDX and Italian Night during Bachelor Week

Introduction

Met a good friend for dinner at Tutti's in Westport CT, one of my favorite BYO establishments in the area. Small, family run/operated Italian restaurant. Hung around for 2+hrs enjoying the company, the wine, the meal.

Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 1990 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Wow. Wonderful nose of dark fruit and a bit of spice. Like silk in your mouth. This is as smooth as the Sade you hear in the elevator. Balance of tannins and fruit with a finish which goes on and on. Elements of graphite which I love. Got better as the night went on. Long life ahead of this.

  • 2004 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno Toscana IGT 92 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

    Truly terrific. Deep purple color, with spicy nose. Well balanced and excellent with veal. A bit grabby at first, but mellowed with overall medium body.

Closing

The Pichon Baron was just lights out. While the Oreno was no slouch, the Pichon just got better and better. As for Tutti's, I noticed an application for a liquor license in the window, which makes me quite sad. Hopefully BYO will still be an option.
