  • 2010 Finca Constancia Selección 85 Points

    Spain, Castilla-La Mancha, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla

    Decanted, tasted double blind. A really dark red with a dark violet edge to it. Very strong on the nose, lots of cassis and quite a bit of oak, although not in an offensive way.. The palate was also very powerful, lots of dark fruits and lots of tannins. Not a bad wine, young and powerful, might like a couple of years in the cellar to calm down, still quite quaffable now.

  • 2010 Antiche Terre Venete Solo Passione Veronese IGT 84 Points

    Italy, Veneto, Veronese IGT

    Decanted, tasted double blind. A fairly dark red, not much violet on the edge. The nose was quite pleasant, red berries, perhaps cherries, perhaps a bit of barnyard there. The palate was initially very hard and acidic, but with air it softened and got a sweetness to it with lots of red berries. Quite quaffable, perhaps an ok party wine.

Closing

nice quaffable wines. I nailed the Italian wine, the Spanish wine reminded me of a strong southern Rhone.
