Introduction

Thanks to Phil for hosting us. Lots of meats and cheeses were brought, and we had a nice selection of various types of Rose.

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon

    Nice and taut. great spicy strawberry and mineral notes. One of the better bottles I've had thus far.

  • 2009 Cayuse Grenache Edith Rosé Armada Vineyard 85 Points

    USA, Oregon, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley

    Enjoyed the aromatics a lot...spicy, deep and layered. The palate was a bit flat for me and lacked the levels of acidity I hoped for. My guess is that this would have been a bit more energetic 2-3 years ago.

  • 2012 Bedrock Wine Co. Ode to Lulu California Rosé 88 Points

    Liked the spicy mourvedre fruit with this Bedrock. Fruit profile was sweet, focused and spicy. Nice acidity and density of fruit. Good as always.

  • 2009 Scholium Project Rhododactylos 88 Points

    VERY light salmon color. Nose was unique (as expected) with some light rose, strawberry, and earthy tones. The palate had a touch of cheese, cream, strawberry and herbs.

  • 2012 Shane Syrah Ma Fille Rosé 86 Points

    Dazzling pink color, with aromas of slate, florals and red fruits. The palate had finesse, but was a hair sweet for me.

  • NV Jean Bourdy Crémant du Jura Rosé 89 Points

    France, Jura, Crémant du Jura

    I'd never had the Bourdy Rose before. Had those subtle oxidative notes you'd expect from Bourdy, but also sweet red fruits. The fruits had a really sharp acidity to them...almost tart. Cranberries and sour cherries were really vivid and energetic. To me, I think Bourdy's blanc is better, but this was a lot of fun.

  • 2012 Arnot-Roberts Rosé 93 Points

    A real show stopper. Had incredibly vivid lavender and rose perfume on the nose...just seductive and sexy. The palate was perfectly composed, sleek, sexy, and complex. This was the fourth bottle I've had of this and it just keeps getting better.

    Yummy as expected. Nice cut and energy. Great light cherry, rose and cranberry tones to it. A classic summertime wine.

  • NV André Clouet Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rosé 90 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

    Very yeasty with lots of energy and nerve. The fruit was especially tart led by cranberries and sour cherries. Thought the balance was there, but would like to see this aged a bit. The firmness might benefit was either some age or extended air.

    A really nice surprise. More exotic and layered than I was expecting. More cranberry and floral notes than sweet cherries. Liked its more sleek approach.

    An somewhat straightforward Rose with light strawberry, rose tones and a bit too much sweetness for me.
