Sea minerals and lemon zest on the stunning nose, with a touch of honey. High level of intensity. On the palate, it is very vibrant, vith high consentration, lots of acidity and an abundance of fruit for a chablis. Very long finish with a stony minerality. Also, it is very clean and pure both on the nose and palate. Fantastic chablis.
Fruit salad with petro on the nose. Lots of tropical fruits such as peach, honey and melon. Stony minerality that is more typical of Rheingau than of Mosel, but still, the elegance is a giveaway. On the palate, there is sweet tropical nectar, but with a featherweight elegance. Initially, the acidity is not very present, but it shows in the aftertaste. Fantastic balance, but this is 5 years to early to drink in my opinion.
Very seductive nose. Textbook Bordeaux with black currant and soft cedar wood. The minerality is resembling a Chateauneuf, with pebble rocks. Smooth and very elegant, with some spices and perfectly integrated oak. The palate is powerful and laden with tannins. Quite slim, with the tannins currently slightly out of balance with the fruit. Probably a bit too young. Currently, the nose is pure magic, while the palate needs time or food.
Tighter and more structured nose than the 2005 Malescot st Exupery that was tasted prior to this wine. While the Malescot was feminine and fragrant, this is all about masculinity in comparison. Lots of pencil sharpener and black currant, with a smoky minerality. Very different from the Malescot, but similarly stunning. Surprisingly, on the palate, the table is turned. Where the Malescot was tannic and too young to drink, this is currently drinking excellent with its beautiful fruit and smooth tannins. Not as long and concentrated as the Malescot though. If you have both, you would want to drink up this first, even though there is no rush with either.
Sweet and sour nose with rose hips, violets and tea that led us to nebbiolo when served blind. With air, it evolves more towards a Bordeaux. A magic nose that keeps changing with air while keeping the very high concentration and vibrancy. The palate is enormously powerful, yet in perfect balance. Lots and lots of fruit, and a finish that lasts forever while it keeps hammering on the front of the tongue. Fantastic wine that is still so very young.
Clearly a natural wine that is now quite evolved. Keeps evolving and improving with air, and unfortunately there was only a glass of this for each so we could not follow it for a longer period. Kept showing more and more dark berries with air, and became more typical northern Rhone. The palate is somewhat less interesting than the nose. Fairly good concentration, and the tannins are quite integrated at this point. Very interesting wine, but I do not see any further upside to keeping this.
Classic, textbook westside Bordeaux on the nose. Lots of pencil sharpener and cigar box notes, with a very deep, velvety black currant fruit. Velvet is the key word here. Fantastic nose that is now at a perfect place. The palate is also great, with lots of fruit and a fresh acidity. Mature tannins. With increased temperature, some alcohol is evident in the finish. Still, a very classy wine.
Smoke, bacon rind, baked apples and generally mature fruits on the fabolously intense and consentrated nose. Developed, but in no way old. This is a wine for contemplation. The palate is very rich, wich great concentration paired with a lovely, pricking acidity. Eternally long with lots of minerals in the finish. Lots of everything, and all in perfect balance. The best champagne I have had in a long time.
