Introduction

My notes are brief as I was not taking detailed notes.

Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2005 Château Rauzan-Ségla 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

The cabernet comes through nicely over the merlot. Definite Left bank but I wonder if it is currently a little closed (Finish was not perfectly smooth). Nice oaky nose with a hint of crushed strawberry. Dry tannins (7/10) with the petit verdot coming through strongly in the finish. NS 92

  • 2009 Château Dauzac 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Bright, bright red almost like Carmenere. Fruity nose and immediately drinkable and unlike many of the Bordeaux I have had recently. Smooth and lighter tannins (5/10) with a touch of acidity in the finish. This caught me during the blind tasting as it was not what I expected.

  • 1988 Château Léoville Barton 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Initially only decanted for 20 minutes to ensure it was not overdone. It matured nicely and improved over the next hour. Beautiful clean chalky nose. Brown and a hint of copper around the edges. Smooth on the palate. Tannins 6/10.

  • 2006 Château Pavie 92 Points

This was the power bomb of the evening - Heavy tannins (9/10). The cabernet franc comes through strongly.
