tasted non-blind as part of a 3-year vertical (03-05). I was all set to rate this wine 75 pts but after reading the consistency of the other reviews, I'm thinking this was a bad bottle. I'm just not sure how to define the flaw. The wine had a strong off-putting bitter flavor of dry cocoa powder, to the point where if I had it blind I might have thought someone was serving me that Choc-o-vine stuff. Interestingly (at least to me) the really terrific 2004 vintage also displayed chocolate/cocoa notes, but they were subdued and really complemented the fruit nicely. This wine, though, had its fruit completely overshadowed by the bitterness. Much of this bottle went down the drain.
tasted non-blind as part of a 3-year vertical (03-05), this was the best of the 3 vintages. same soft mouthfeel as the 2005, but with added benefit of deep purple fruit and pleasant hints of chocolate. Well enjoyed.
tasted non-blind as part of a 3-year vertical (03-05). beautiful soft mouthfeel but a step down from the '04 with muted fruit profile and some bitter notes around the edges.
