cracking time - we made the gnocchi ourselves (there was enough for me to have a weeks full of lunches afterwards and I wasn't the only one). Lots of old and new school stuff. Stuffed ourselves crazy. Finished with grappa and shots. marvellous.

2011 Chrismont Barbera La Zona

reductive, cherry. Very acidic with medium plus body and flavour intensity - cherries to the fore. Very clean and fruit driven but a little simple.

Vanilla and caramel, plum. Medium plus acid, medium plus chalky tannin, quire ripe plum, spicy and with a long finish. Well made but not for me.

rose, leather, tar, plum…what I would perceive as a very correct traditional nose. In the mouth medium plus mouth watering acidity, plum, leather, rose, medium plus mouth grabbing tannin and very long. Yum

2006 Pio Cesare Barolo

slightly oxidised, caramel, leather, funky. High intensity chewy tannin, medium acid, plum, tar, vanilla, medium length. I don't think it's flawed but it is very forward.
