A really good set of wines, save for the Boxler, perhaps. The Nossing was completely unknown to me and a real revelation for the Alto Adige. Very well conceived food pairings with these as well.

A fascinating wine which by turn had some florality and herbs, the lemony brine of Muscadet, the quinine, cyanic bitterness of some Chablis, and an additional layer of glossy sheen (like a Chenin Blanc) to boot. Very dynamic in the glass.

Muddled red color. You stick your nose in the glass, and the wine is just full of life! Almost a Beaujolais first impression with crackling red fruit, licorice and herbs. Light, vibrant, just full of herbal elements and mulled fruit. Low tannins, ready to go. This is hard not to like/love.

Deep, saturated ruby. Wow, what a nose for a 4 year old red-oregano, balsam wood, some volatile acidity. Just by the aromatics alone, hard to believe it could be anything but Italian. Fleshy entry, cherry liqueur but not overly goopy or alcoholic. Complex, earthy, long finish. Bold and extroverted-what a wine!! Why wait?

2011 Albert Boxler Pinot Gris Sommerberg

Medium yellow. Spice, baked apple and some peach. Medium weight, quite sweet, loosely put together and low in acid. Pleasant but monochromatic and hardly worthy of Grand Cru status.
