  • 1982 Château Palmer 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    Tasted blind: herbal notes, eucalyptus. Very balanced, nicely integrated tannins, red berries elegant yet quite long. Now mature but still has reserves for the next 10 years.

  • 1985 Château Palmer Flawed

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    A slightly flawed bottle. This wine showed amazing finesse, elegance and complexity. The sweetness is still present. I need to retaste to give a rating. But from what I have seen (even from this flawed bottle) I believe in the 1985 Palmer.

    Tasted blind: Nose of leather and tobacco. Still nice fruit and sweetness, again all very elegant. Comparing to other Palmers I am missing the length and complexity in the 1988. Good wine but not a stunner. Drink now

  • 1990 Château Palmer 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    Tasted blind: Nose of milk chocolate, earthy, leathery notes and hints of peppermint. Very smooth and long. Quite complex but at the same time the elegance makes this wine easy to drink. Wonderful Palmer and very close to the amazing 1989! No hurry to drink this wine.

  • 1994 Château Palmer 90 Points

    Tasted blind: Earthy notes, hints of berries. Tannins are very present, so is the acidity. It shows green notes and is a bit unbalanced. Drink now until 2020 but I do not expect this wine to get any better.

    Tasted blind: Nose of coffee, Coke and herbs. It is very elegant, powerful and complex. Shows a great length but at the moment is not able to show anything. Lots of potential but still much too young. Put away for the next 5 to 10 years or decant for a few hours. Potential for 94+pts is here but at the moment just too unbalanced.

  • 2004 Château Palmer 91 Points

    Tasted blind: Nose of coffee, tar and dark gravy. The wine has power, it is long but at the same time dominated by dry tannins. There is plenty of sweetness (dark fruit), Mocca and plum flavor. Overall a bit one-dimensional. Good to drink now but I see more potential in a few years down the road.

    France, Vin de Table Français

    Tasted blind: Nose of dark berries with lots of vanilla. Still very dry tannins, red berries. It is a pleasant, "easy-drinking" fun wine but all in all lacking complexity. How will this wine develop? Put aside for a few more years.

    Tasted blind: Nose of tar (sulfur) and coffee. The wine is very elegant, long and is very smooth. But at the same time does not show balance. Lots of dark berries, sweetness and flint stone. I guess this wine is still too young, but also do not expect this to become one of the legendary Palmers once fully matured. Wait a few more years or decant.

  • 1998 Château Palmer 94 Points

    Tasted blind: As with many Palmers I smell leather, tobacco and coffee. This wine has still a lot of acidity and tannins but at the same time the fruit and the power makes this a wonderful drinking wine. For a Palmer the 1998 has quite a lot of muscles. Drink now - 2030.

    Tasted blind: Nose of leather, tobacco and herbs. Nice sweetness and balance. The tartiness is a bit bothersome but overall a nice wine. Elegant. Drink now - 2020.

    Tasted blind: Leather, black licorice and tobacco in the nose. The tannins are nicely integrated into the sweetness. This wine is very elegant and shows good length. If this wine would have just a tiny bit more of "juice" it would be a "WOW" wine...still complaining on a high level as this is a wonderful Palmer. Surprisingly the 1983 is still quite youthful so no hurry to pop the cork.

    Tasted blind: Amazing bouquet showing a plethora of red berries, tea but also herbs. The wine is very balanced, powerful yet extremely elegant and smooth. Like velvet on the tongue. It has a very long finish with flavors of cherries and chocolate. This was clearly the WOTN. What a beauty. This bottle was superior to the one I drank a few months ago... Drink to 2025

  • 1995 Château Palmer 89 Points

    Tasted blind: Herbal notes, hints of malt. It is elegant, has nicely integrated tannins but just lacking the balance and complexity I expect in a wine of that pedigree in a good vintage as 1995. Maybe it is too young but tasting many other Palmers that night I do not really believe in this wine. Drink now - 2025.
