  • NV Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Cuvée No. 736 Extra-Brut 92 Points

    France, Champagne

The NV Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Cuvée No. 736 is made from the 2008 vintage and is light pale lemon in colour with very mild effervescence. On the rose, it displays rather yeasty, fresh bread notes alongside toasted walnuts notes. There's also a hint of baked pineapples almost.

An entry burst of walnuts and breadiness notes on the palate before progressing to a mid-palate baked fruits - pineapples and slight apricots. Towards the mid-end palate, there's a good freshness of nice lemon zest and a surfacing green lime. It's great how the wine starts off with some weight before it turns lighter as zesty fruits take over. An attractive acidity towards the end that is almost mouthwatering that lifts flavours of the wine without being overpowering. Superb underlying acidity gives it a long clean medium(+) finish.

  • 2002 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Brut Millésimé 89 Points

    France, Champagne

The 2002 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Millésimé is medium golden in colour with an almost oxidative nose accompanied with breadiness and toast. There's also underlying hints of nectarines and stone fruits on the nose - some peaches and apricots that makes it rather attractive.

An entry of nuttiness on the mid-palate with tones of baked fruits surfacing alongside dried honey. Acidity comes up a little evidently towards the end. 89 for now, but too young to judge for sure (89-92).

  • 2002 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Dizy Corne Bautray Extra-Brut 91 Points

    France, Champagne

The 2002 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Dizy Corne Bautray is medium gold in colour with super fine bubbles but extremely mild - consistent nonetheless. Quite an intense nose of good breadiness, slight ammonia and earth. Baked pineapples intertwines with some green unripe mangoes.

A slight oily entry and breadiness and toasted walnuts notes on the palate. The mid-palate cleanses up a little bit, driving some focus on the centre of the palate. Good salinity that powers through. Overtones of minerality that is almost ocean-like. Acidity forces things together without being sour or astringent. Has quite some weight that lingers through the finish. Takes a while to open up, and still really young I believe. 91 today, but a 91-93 pointer easily.

  • 2002 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Grand Cru Avize Champ Cain 93 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

The 2002 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Brut Avize Grand Cru Champ Caïn is medium vibrant gold in colour with breadiness overtones on the nose and underlying baked green apples and boiled chrysanthemum. Nice layers and characters on the nose. On the palate, quite a soft yet laser-like focus entry of nuttiness and salinity that prolongs from start to the end with baked fruit flavours. Slight yellow flower notes and almonds notes coming up strongly from the mid before calming down yet staying in a good constant level and gentle (not horribly overpowering and frontal).

The wine stayed very focused from start to finish. A beautifully prolonged finish of minerality as well. Acidity is commendably well-integrated, leaving the palate to be extreme cleansed and fresh yet with a lingering finish of flavour purity. Brilliant! 93+

  • 1995 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Grand Cru Degorgement Tardif Avize 90 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

The 1995 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Degorgement Tardif Avize Grand Cru is medium pale gold in colour with a nose of sunflower oil with stalkiness of green apples, unripe fruits - mangoes.

An entry of very mild nuttines with a buttery coat. Super round on the mid-palate. Lots of unripe fruits displayed on the palate - green mangoes, green apples, slight pears with underlying notes of dried nectarines. Prolonged finish with quite a good strength. Made in quite a dried style and got quite some structure indeed. The pop-and-pour might be a little too green, but nonetheless, very well-made. Very balanced. 90 points today, but 90-92 pointer.
