I've had some excellent vintages of this wine, but this 2000 was on another level. The golden color betrays a bit of age, but this is still vibrant, youthful and energetic. Rich, luscious and palate-staining with honey and exotic, tropical fruit notes. The finish is electric, mineral-infused and ridiculously long. Lip-smacking acidity expertly frames the plump, corpulent fruit. A big surprise for me, given the vintage.
This was beautiful, ethereal and precise... yet still painfully young. Crisp apples, pears, mint, yeast and crushed stones. A bit of spritz on the palate. Wonderfully chiseled. The finish shimmers with an almost saline minerality. Lengthy, taut and delicious. Evolved nicely with air. Great future potential here.
This showed just as wonderful as a bottle I had last year. Lean and mineral-laced, with gun-metal, and cool red fruits. Fine, well resolved structure that still cuts through food. Lovely stuff.

This has lots of lovely blackberry fruit and spice (lots of freshly cracked black pepper). Ripe, yet well balanced, with a savory edge to it. My notes are mostly from day 2, where I had more time to spend with it. The palate was so luscious and full, almost like blackberry pie, but this also had a crisp and savage edge to it. Overall, still on the young side, with lots of upside.
