Big thanks to RPM for sending out this bottle gratis. Loved its nose of marmalade, passionfruit, star fruit and herbs. The palate was really nice with a lot of fresh strawberry tones, cranberry and red floral notes. A really nice wine.
Another satisfying bottle. If you're thinking of opening this, give it air! The flavors really develop and grow with time. It moves from a simplistic, melon-driven wine to a wine of depth and complexity. Very nice floral notes with deep orchard fruit notes. The palate had a lot of energy...wish it was a warmer night.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
A serious bottle of chardonnay, albeit young. The nose was quiet (in a good way) - hints of flint, lemon, and pear emerged and built over time. I should have decanted this 4-5 hours before dinner...
This is all muscle at this point. So much amazing material in the bottle. Hopefully, I can try some when it's mature.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
A seminal wine. The nose was flinty, with a lot of citrus and salty notes. Incredibly fresh with amazing depth. The palate was close to perfect. Layers of citrus, mineral, and cracked stone. This was amazing when just poured and was amazing 4 hours after being poured. A tour de force...hard to ask for more from White Burgundy.
Hard to find fault with this wine. Aromas were soft, delicate, and at times powerful. The palate vacillated from elegance to power (most wines don't do that). Just incredible stuff. You'll get it, too.
Super good. Lots of red, vibrant fruit on the nose. Felt young....through and through. Lots of earth, tons of floral, and hopes that you can forget about this for another 15 years.
An another amazing Giacosa. This had amazing floral, tar, earth, and cranberry tones. Still had a lot of finesse, balance, and edge to it. Loved what we had...will still age for quite some time.
