Small pour. This seemed a bit on the austere side to me tonight. Don't know if this had any decant. Nose has red fruits, red cherry, berries, some earth. The palate is cherry, on the sour side, mineral, firm tannins, a bit rough around the edges, but shows promise.

This was really good. Great QPR. Nose has raspberries, nice velvety texture, medium-full body, tobacco, medium plus finish. Tannins are fairly round now, drink or hold, but I think this will improve a bit more.

Very dark red color. Decanted for 1 hour. Drank 1 glass over 20 minutes. I thought that this was showing well with fairly classic CDP characteristics. Nose displays garrigue, kirsch, cherry, dark berries, spices, oak. The palate is full bodied, concentrated, with layers of dark fruits accentuated by silky tannin and texture, mild oak, garrigue, spice, and long finish. It would have been fun to follow this over 3-5 hours and see where it might go.

60% G, 20% S, 10% M, 10% C. Yet another young wine, this showed nicely, and has lots character, roasted meat, dried herbs, cassis, dark fruits, medium-full body. Give this another 2 years. 90pts(+).

I hadn't this in awhile, and it is still doing nicely. I think this had about a 1 hour decant. Had 1 glass over 20 minutes. Dark, purple color, still dense and chewy with black fruits, funk, earth, smoke, crushed rocks, espresso, spice. Tannins are round, finished medium plus. (2500)

2009 Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District 92 Points

This was a little tight early on, but opened nicely to reveal lush black fruits, crème de cassis, blackberry, dark cherry, oak, spice, mint, and later it becomes more earthy. The palate is full bodied, showing nice concentration, good purity and focus, firm round tannins, oak, and a long finish. Young, but showing well, this will continue to get better. 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. 92(+)pts.

Medium dark gold color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 20-30 minutes. In a word, balanced. This was drinking perfectly, balanced, lovely with a nose of ripe peaches, pineapple, apricot, honey, white flowers, and spice. The palate shows good body, rich and mouth coating, with ripe peach, pineapple, pear, botrytis, and lovely purity. Nice long finish. 93+pts.
