After 31 years in the tropical climate in Guyana with annual evaporation in excess of 8%, 3 barrels (# 10,536, 10,537, 10,539) were left from the original 37 and selected by Luca Gargano from Velier SpA in Genoa. Angels' share over 94%! A wonderful marriage of intensity and elegance, flowers and cane sugar, fruit, spice and wood; beautifully rounded, the concentration magically (almost) buffers the heat from alcohol, big and powerful but not austere, abrasive or forbidding; complex rather, layered and quite subtle, with excellent length.
A very fresh style for age, almonds and fruit, hint of nuts, soft and sweet but fresh and elegant, nice depth of flavour and length. Very much a Cognac-styled Brandy.
