Light straw colour in the glass. On the nose, apple, citrus peel, biscuit, mineral and yeasty notes. On the palate, very tart and racy acid profile. The slightly bitter, moderate length finish is characterized by green apple, lemon zest, and mineral, with a touch of yeast. Needs some time in the cellar, but should improve.
Italy, Marche, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore
Popped and poured, light straw colour in the glass. On the nose, lemon zest, touch of butterscotch, stewed garbage, mineral, some woodspice, aerosol/hairspray, gooseberry, asparagus pee. On the palate, a touch viscous, with a degree of richness. Finish is long and accentuated with citrus and mineral notes. Very interesting wine. Whether it is one's cup of tea is another story.
Popped and poured, light straw colour in the glass. On the nose, candied lemon, mineral, spice, lime zest, vanilla, with a touch of melon as it warms in the glass. On the palate, this is richly textured with some nice complimentary acidity that is critical to the enjoyment of this wine. Finishes long. Decidedly modern, but a quality wine none the less.
Decanted approximately 10 minutes. Deep purple in the glass, with no bricking evident. On the nose, dark fruits, mineral, blood, rubber, spice, sweat, and a touch of unintegrated oak. On the palate, quite concentrated, but not feeling overly extracted. Medium acid profile here, with a moderate finish. Everything is balance here, but needs some time to shed the drying tannin that dominates the finish. Could use at least 5 years of rest.
Italy, Trentino Alto-Adige / Veneto, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT
Decanted, but served immediately. On the nose quite feminine in personality, with red and black fruits, tobacco, herbs, blood, smoke, earth, chocolate, florals and spice. On the palate, quite refreshing with red fruit, tobacco and herb notes. Finish is moderate, with some silky tannin, but overall, drinking nicely for this young italian.

Popped and poured, initially showing a hint of oxidation that dissipated. Translucent garnet in the glass, with a light brick. On the nose, red and black cherry, earth, blood, florals, spice, tar and dried herbs. On the palate, despite being translucent, this has an incredible depth of flavour and nuance. Finishes long and lingers on the palate for quite some time. A mild grip of unresolved tannins. Lovely.
Popped and poured, deep garnet in the glass. On the nose, dark fruit, red currant, spice, fresh picked herbs, some unintegrated oak, crushed rocks, and a touch of green pepper. On the palate, very rich but showing svelte texture with polished, silky tannin. Moderate acid and finishes quite long in the mouth. Give this a few years rest, at least. A lot of upside here.
Popped and poured, garnet in the glass. On the nose, licorice, black cherry, tar, roses, mint, brown sugar, spice, and earth. On the palate, medium plus acid, still a wall of unresolved tannin. Finish is long and dominated by sour cherry, spice, dried flowers and reduced balsamic. Lovely wine, and is still improving.
Popped and poured, deep dark inky purple. An expressive nose of plums, raisin, blueberry preserves, spice, dark chocolate, balsamic glaze, and a light tropical component, accentuated by the coconut oak. On the palate, heavy tannin, medium plus acidity, which compliments the extremely rich profile. Viscosity akin to motor oil. Finishes long, with a touch of heat.
Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Vin Santo del Chianti Classico
To close out the evening. A touch spirity, which was welcome at this juncture. Golden colour in the glass. On the nose, marmalade, golden raisins, dried apricots, spice and toasted nuts. On the palate, quite sweet, with some counterbalancing acid. Finishes long, but a touch hot. Oxidative in character.
