I am finally getting around to post my notes from this stellar event! I stumbled upon my notebook of tasting notes during a move this weekend and decided it was finally time to document the experience here on CT. While it was almost a year ago, it is without a doubt my wine tasting highlight of 2013.
What struck me about the tasting, above all else, was the uniform quality of the 2010 vintage across Bordeaux (minus Sauternes). While some wines predictably performed better than others and others still were show stopping, there were truly no 'bad' wines. Just 'less great' wines. There was structure to be had in spades across the board and these wines will outlive many.
What I love about tastings such as these is there is truly an equal playing field for all wines involved. Price point does not factor in nor does historical prestige. The big boys are pouring RIGHT next to the lesser known estates and every wine has an equal chance to shine. And shine they did.
