  France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Beaujolais Nouveau

  Tasted blind. Pop and pour. Light fruity nose. Fresh, crisp red fruits on the palate. Red apples and a bit of strawberry. Light on the palate, veering into breezy forgettable territory. Short finish. But somehow, better tasting than the first time I tried this. No tartness this time.

• 2010 Domaine Georges Vernay Côte-Rôtie Blonde du Seigneur 94 Points

  France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

  Dark purple colour. Poured into decanter and left to air for 2 hours before drinking.
  Fragrant floral nose. On the palate, rich dark blackberries, cranberries, and the ubiquitous flowery flavours. Just the right touch of sweetness. Spice/pepper is very mild. Tannins so fine and smooth. A long 'give me more' kind of finish. Already very good now, but could possibly be even better in about 3 years time I imagine. I will be getting another bottle for sure.
  Just a side note, after about the 3.5 hour mark, the wine started to develop a bit of the sickly sweet flavour. Conclusion - don't decant this for too long.

• 2005 Two Hands Shiraz Harry & Edward's Garden 90 Points

  Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek

  Blind tasted. Was decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Lots of sediments. Dark purple colour. Sweet fruity nose. On the palate, cassis, tar, ripe berries. No doubt age has mellowed this big Shiraz, but I can still feel the alcohol. A good Shiraz from a consistently good producer. But there are definitely much better Aussie Shiraz.

Was able to identify the Beaujolais and the Aussie Shiraz. Some people loved the Aussie Shiraz, but I much preferred the Cote-Rotie.
