A very good palate, but everything else about this wine does its bets to keep you away. The nose has a (faulty?) plastic smell and the finish is very short and clipped. The palate, however, is quite complex and interesting.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
On open, a fairly reserved note. With a bit of time, a peppery, spicy, and mature red fruit notes. Very light, elegant palate. Lower, approachable tannin. With a couple of days air, very light, elegant, reserved, and classic. (+)
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Very elegant, reserved, and light. A bit of fruity sweetness. Much more open than the 1986 Canon on open, but within hours, this faded, and the Canon was improving. (+)
Holy bottle variation! Quite sweet. With 1 hour of air, lots of bell pepper and darker red/black fruit. Nice, but bigger than usual and without the Monte Bello charm.
Very good acidity. Dominated by honey. Does not blow me away like my first bottle; a very nice, lovely, high-aicd wine, but with primarily a honey palate and without the incredible breadth I remember. Very good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
My first PYCM. Light lemon color. Very strange nose of bitter lemon, sweet lemon candies. Fairly high acidity. Bitter (almost rotten?) lemon, fairly soft, creamy texture on a medium frame. Medium, slightly clipped, finish of bitter lemon. Not enjoyable.
1966 Château Lascombes
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
Still retains some nice structure, with nice acidity, though the tannin is fading. Very pretty nose. Very short finish. Nice. (=)

Quite like previous notes. At peak or a bit beyond. Very nice structure, with fading fruit yielding to tertiary characteristics.

2012 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Anrecht
Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Good, but nothing remarkable. Much sweeter than you would expect from a Spatlese. Note at the time was "good…nothing special."
