    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion

    Translucent, the age showing as orange rather than brown.
    Certainly a mature nose but still fruity and attractive.
    Sweet, fruity attack, a slight metallic taste, sweet and fruity in the mid palate, medium length.

    Opaque, tawny.
    An attractive nose, figs.
    Fruity, savoury, smooth, drinking well, medium length.

    Just translucent.
    A very vegetal nose but attractive.
    Earthy, then a bit of dusty fruit, past it to my mind.

    Attractive nose, a hint of fruit.
    Very fruity attack, somewhat tannic, drinking well, good length.

    A sweet attractive nose, baked fruit.
    Fruity attack, good tannin balance, smooth mid palate, pretty long.

    Substantial tawny colour, opaque.
    Wonderful nose of sweet lightly stewed fruit and custard.
    Delicious fruity attack, smooth mid palate and a nice fruity finish, good length.

    Opaque, mot a lot of age.
    A very nicely developed animal nose.
    Slightly dusty fruit, lacking substance in the mid palate, quite short.

Closing

This was a two bottle tasting and we were able to taste from both bottles in each case. There were noticeable bottle variations, unsurprising in such old bottles. Some differences were very marked, with one bottle still very much alive and delicious, the other over the hill and not at all pleasant. My notes reflect the wine initially poured for me and ignore the second bottle.
