Richer, more ripe and fruity with some licorice, a little earth, tangy dark fruit, cola, and a little hotter in terms of alc. This has a touch of merlot in it and it seems confected and made for American palates. My least favorite.
This was one of my favorites of the night. Red fruits, mineral, herbs, structured. Not an in your face wine but a wine with some finesse and character.
Thanks to Jim G. For pulling this out of his cellar when the 2009 Ruffino was corked. This one was dark and concentrated with some earthy notes, a little licorice, and dark fruits. Good acidity and some fine tannin left. Could have used a little time to open up. This was my favorite along with the Castallare Di Castellina.

Pleasant wine with light/medium body, faint mint, dry, tart cherry fruit. Not exciting but a solid $15 chianti.
