2kg of Prime Wagyu. Enough said. Wine theme - 10 years and above.

  • 2001 Gianni Gagliardo Barbaresco 89 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco

    Blind tasting.
    Lots of sediments. Light reddish brown colour.
    Nose quite muted, but some notes of chocolate and smoky elements.
    On the palate, dark fruits, tar, tobacco, dark chocolate, old leather. Dry tannins.
    I guessed a 12-15 year old Barolo.

  • 2003 Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Vignolo 88 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

    Earthy aroma. On the palate, lots of red fruits, some oak and leather. Not elegant and lacking depth. Wall of dry puckery tannins. The tannins may smoothen out with time, but really don't know how much secondary flavours will be revealed with time. Disappointed with this, I will be careful of the 2003 hot vintage Barolos from now on.

  • 1999 Greenock Creek Shiraz Seven Acre 92 Points

    Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

    Cork cracked into two, but still managed to get it out nicely with the traditional sommelier knife. Lots of sediments.
    Menthol blackcurrant nose. Palate shows sweet creamy butter caramel, licorice, and cassis. Big, full-bodied, and jammy, but tannins quite settled already. Could still go for a few more years I think. A good one for the fans of aged Aussie Shiraz.
