Crumbly cork. Sharp nose with some VA. Definite pine and green components. Ever so slightly overbalanced to the acid side. Ethereal but it fleshed out and sweetened impressively, for a while anyway. And then...it...just... faded...away pretty rapidly.
Same problem with the cork as described in the previous note by Prof B. Tawny, balsam tones and exquisite sweet, fragile red fruit which nonetheless held up for a good 3 hours and provided a great deal of pleasure. Even a bit of cocoa richness. Very Burgundian, a slowly fading beauty. Forty three years young-pretty great showing for a bottle that cost a song, I'd say.
Light golden. Magnificent botrytized nose. The vibrant acidity makes it cold as ice and offsets tremendous richness of fruit including bright citrus and coconut. Just starting to round into form, it seems. Long and fabulously balanced. Fantastic Sauternes and I say this as more of a fan of other dessert wine regions-it's all about the acidity keeping things from being too sweet or gloppy.

2001 Château Suduiraut
