Flight 1 - Aperitif and white (2 Notes)

  • 2006 Seppelt Salinger Vintage Cuvee 90 Points

    Australia, Victoria, Western Victoria, Great Western

    Light pale straw, seems to have plenty of mousse when poured but it quickly evaporated to show some tiny bubbles.
    Fresh and subtle nose, nice toasty character with hints of biscuit and brioche. Light and crisp on entry, with tart citrus, green apple and some toastiness. A little dry, showing good acidity and finishes medium. This is a nice sparkler from Australia, and a good alternative to Champagne.

  • 2012 Cantina Tollo Pecorino 89 Points

    Italy, Abruzzi, Terre di Chieti IGT

    Bright straw yellow, lifted and fragrance bouquet of jasmine flowers, peaches and apricots.
    Fresh and balance with slightly oily mouth-feel, showing the same flavour profile of apricot, peach and hints of floral and spice. Nice and clean finish. Simple but very pleasant drinking.

Flight 2 - Some good reds (4 Notes)

    Brought the remaining 1/3 bottle to share during the Christmas day lunch, surprisingly the fruits coming out, more sour cherry and tart acidity. And the tannins soften and not as tannins as yesterday. Still robust and seems to have good year ahead. Well liked by my lunch companions.

  • 1994 Arnaldo-Caprai Montefalco Sagrantino 25 Anni 94 Points

    Dark ruby with brick red hue, developed and showing maturity.
    Pop and pour and it is already very expressive on the nose, rustic, opened and beautifully elegant, with leather, earth, funk, hints of capsicum and herbs.
    Medium bodied, balance and elegant on palate with nice aged characters of leather, earth rustiness and spice. Nice seamless mid-palate extend to a long lingering finish with a fine and soft grip. Very impressive indigenous varietal from Italy and it has been under-rated for long due to its rustic character, but it really deserve a place alongside Sangio, Nebbiolo, Corvina (Amarone) and Aglianico.

  • 2001 Château Larmande 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    Dark ruby with glossy hue and started to show brick red edge.
    Decanted for about and hour, nose of blackcurrant, ripe and dark plum and more fruits forward nose, but it gradually show more secondary notes of forest floor and leather. Plummy palate, dark fruits and showing good ripeness, robust and plenty of fruits flavours. Still has many years to go, Long spicy finish with firm grippy tannins. Tasted second time and again showing very well. Always a good value from St. Émilion.

  • 2011 Fattoria Selvapiana Chianti Rùfina 89 Points

    Understand that the bottle was opened few days back but the wine is surprisingly showing well. Still very young at the moment and needs plenty of time.
    Medium ruby red, nice fragrant nose of ripe blueberry, plum and christmas pudding. Dry but fruity palate, with ripe blue fuits, spice and hints of mineral.
    Medium+ finish with firm chewy tannins.

Flight 3 - Dessert wines and port (3 Notes)

  • 2006 Château Pajzos Tokaji Aszú 3 Puttonyos 91 Points

    Hungary, Tokaji

    Light honey golden, expressive and complex bouquet of floral, chinese tea leaf, dried prune, tropical fruits, mango and hints of honey. The nose is wonderful and suggested higher level of sweetness compare to the palate. The palate is fresh, simpler and soft, exhibits Chinese tea, tropical fruits, raisin and honey. The aftertaste is dry and clean.
    This is a surprisingly nice bottle and definitely deliver a very good QPR. Although the sweetness and concentration is low but 3 puttonyos has the lowest sugar content and thus the least sweet of the aszu wine styles. 13.5% ABV quite high but barely noticed.

  • 2000 Georg Breuer Rauenthaler Nonnenberg Riesling Auslese 90 Points

    Bright honey-amber, when pop and pour it shows some kerosene and burnt plastic smell and after a while it whirl off to show honey, sugar cane, raisin and hints of dried tea leaf. The palate is sweeter than it suggested on the nose, rich and smooth, with good concentration of honey, raisin, sugar cane, tropical fruits and tea. Rounded mouth-feel, balanced acidity and medium finish.

  • NV Cockburn Porto 20 Year Old Tawny 90 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Medium tawny colour, nose of caramel, coffee, raisin and pungent suggesting of high alcohol.
    A very nice drinking tawny, with nutty, caramel, and roasted coffee flavours. Robust and good finishing.
