Big and bold, but everything's held together by a powerful green laser.

A little bit of barnyard funk and green herbs. Very closed right now but this is an incredibly big wine. Some sweet flavours of golden apples. Very opulent and big. The palate is quite soft and definitely veering towards low acidity.
Served with truffled gnocchi. From jeroboam. Very herbaceous on the nose with tons of green pepper notes. Showing a lot of secondary characteristics with lots of weedy, tobacco notes. Light on its feet with fully resolved tannins. Lovely vein of acidity to hold things together. Medium-long finish. This is what all claret should aspire to.

Very austere nose with a little bit of burnt earth and some darker fruit. The palate is also very austere with some light earthy notes. Loads of acidity but this is open for business now. Awesome.

Vosne-like brown spice. Slightly herbal red cherry aromas. Very forward nose that screams Dujac. On the palate, this is incredibly balanced with lots of crisp red fruit and a Thanksgiving spice note. Medium-long finish. In an amazing spot right now, this is absolutely fantastic.
Very pale in colour but the nose is dirty and earthy and classic Produttori. The palate is also very light with a lot of acidic cut. The tannins have basically disappeared. This bottle exemplifies exactly what old Produttori is to me. An archetypical bottle.

Slightly murky and some signs of bricking. Very dirty nose of musk, barnyard, mulch, and wet fur. The palate is slightly sweet but the animal and barnyard characters don't show up there. Some tangy ripe red fruit and very light tannins to boot. This is what aged Burgundy is all about.

Very deep-pitched and dark in colour. On the palate, this is really rich -- classic Meo. Lots of ripe dark fruit like you'd expect as well. The oak shows but it isn't domineering. A very sensuous and delicious wine.

I pegged this for the Kirschheck based on the more open nose. Lots of sulphur on the nose, but notes of ripe peach show through. The palate is almost Auslese-level sweetness, and is missing a bit of the acidic cut you'd expect from other vintages. This comes off certainly much riper than most, but as with all Doennhoff, is insanely delicious.
Strangely fresh for such an old wine. Nose of leather, ripe red fruit. Quite refined and easily drinkable. A bit of tea on the palate as well. Relatively soft tannins.
From magnum. Cheesy and meaty and funky on the nose. The palate has a ton of acidic cut. Very attractive and rich and fat. Painfully intense on the palate; definitely on the ripe side but without ever feeling heavy. Long, long finish.
Nose of tobacco and roses as well as some juicy red fruit. The palate is quite tannic and refined, but this is certainly too young at the moment. Needs lots more time to smooth out.
#18-03. From half bottle. Burnished golden colour. Very spicy nose with a light hint of musk. The palate is obviously very sweet but there is enough acid to hold everything together. Some secondary characteristics have emerged -- brown spice, orange peel, brown sugar, but fresh peaches and other fruit flavours show up as well. There is an incredible amount of stuffing and extract. The finish goes on forever. Another legend from Doennhoff.

My first description upon smelling this wine (blind): "it's some sort of Burgundy." Moderate aromas of rose petals and lots of sweet brown spice. Surely not too intense on the palate but rather very lithe and light-footed. Notes of sweet brown spice and a nice hint of oak as well. Medium-length finish. Somewhat angular tannins still.

Very bright colour. Showing quite a bit of oak and a slight hint of iron, but it's quite hard for me to peg this as Chambolle. Incredibly young and big, this is a "smash-you-in-the-face" kind of Burgundy right now. Slight hint of licorice and other black fruit. Again a very powerful note of iron pops up. Just closed right now, but without a doubt this is an insanely big wine.

Very pale in colour but the nose is dirty and earthy and classic Produttori. The palate is also very light with a lot of acidic cut. The tannins have basically disappeared. This bottle exemplifies exactly what old Produttori is to me. An archetypical bottle.
