An uncommon blend of 40% Chardonnay, 19% Sauvignon Blanc, 11% Viognier, 10% Chenin Blanc, 9% Tocai Friulano; nose of white flowers, melon, lemon, grain; very sour flavor that made my mouth pucker, attacks the front of tongue and jowls, lighter bodied; blend doesn't really come together for me and acidity (acidified) is out of whack.
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot; semi-translucent dull garnet; nose of red berries, dried flowers, sandy, salty dock, hint of green pepper, tobacco; grainy tannin but soft enough to be friendly, dried red fruit, some orange; better than last time.
39% Mourvedre, 29% Grenache, 14% Syrah, 9% Carignan, 7% Counoise, 2% Cinsault; very dark and opaque; blueberry, sweet blackberry, dark cherry, some pepper, well integrated oak; nice richness but also decent acid for lift and balance; good.
A non-claret blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Petit Verdot, 8% Tannat, 7% Syrah, and 1% Petit Sirah; dark purple with reddish hues; nose of cassis, leather, tar, blackberry; smooth tannin, a little musky, dark fruit, a bit brooding; not my favorite.
2012 Château de Cordes Minervois Blanc
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Minervois
80% Marsanne, 20% Roussanne; greenish yellow; lighter bodied for these grapes, bitter melon, lime rind, good aperitif, bitter finish almost needs food.
