Four whites and four reds.
All we have to do is select which wine is made from which variety and comes from which country, from a list of 5 possible varieties/countries for each colour.
Good evening, congrats to those who won.
Just shows that tasting is much easier when you have the label in front of you.
2005 Sainsbury's Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie Taste the Difference 79 Points
Italy, Delle Venezie
Light straw colour, very dry, bit chalky bitterish finish, little flavour. Blind tasting - guessed it was Pinot Grigio/Italy because of no taste :)

2006 Concha y Toro Sauvignon Blanc Casillero del Diablo Reserva 85 Points
Chile, Casablanca Valley
Water colour, nose like grass, very dry, pungent, must be SB but Chile or South Africa? Guess (wrongly) SA

2004 Sainsbury's Gewurztraminer Taste the Difference 86 Points
France, Alsace
Pale yellow, fragrant, slightly oily devolping honeyed tones and with a dry finish. I'm torn between Gerwurtztraminer and Riesling, and plum (wrongly) for the second as it seems more restrained than I'd expect a GW

2005 Villa Maria Chardonnay Private Bin
New Zealand, North Island, Hawke's Bay
Beautiful clearbright pale straw colour with a greenish tinge, slightly sour finish. Chardonnay from NZ

2005 Georges Dubœuf Brouilly Château de Nervers 80 Points
France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Brouilly
Dark red with bluish edge, dry, short acidic finish. Has to be Gamay,a nd I'll guess Beaujolais.

2004 Porcupine Ridge Syrah 75 Points
South Africa, Coastal Region
Dark red, but funky tastes, cross of sulphur and public toilets, swirling clears some of the off tones leaving rich smokey wine. Think its South AFrican but not certain of variety --- plump (wrongly) for Merlot.

2005 Artazu Navarra Artazuri 89 Points
Spain, Navarra
Incredibly dark glass staining wine, deep intense flavours, quite warm, and distinctive mint on the palate. This reminds me so much of a recentCabernet from Jim Barry that I go right off track and say its Auastralian Cabernet

2004 Emiliana Merlot Adobe Reserva 90 Points
Chile, Rapel Valley, Colchagua Valley
Incredibly dark and intense, stains the glass. Lovely rich spicy wine and so I guess its Syrah from Spain :(
