Not to be confused with the "normal" Vouvray Sec, this is a special selection made from very ripe but not botrytised grapes, reared sur lie in new oak for 12 months. Hint of chamomile on the otherwise discreet nose; rich and honeyed attack, has richness and weight and a quite pronounced note of the new oak. An interesting experiment and certainly a good wine, but I am not sure this is the way for Vouvray to go.
Solid Pouilly-Fuisse, ripe lemon fruit, nice weight and balance, well-integrated oak and a touch of fennel but without the energy and freshness of the best from this vintage.
A wonderful symphony of nuts, candied and fresh fruit, flowers and chalk; a firm mineral core in a seamless silk glove, marries excellent intensity with a lovely lithe elegance; very good length. Very stylish, mature Grande Champagne.
