A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, from vineyards west of Reims (near Saint-Thierry). Relatively full colour; full-on style, the rich and smoky Pinot Noir tempered by the mineral freshness of the Chardonnay, candied fruit, floral topnotes, red apple; youthful, vibrant and pure.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Rich style, ripe fruit balanced by lovely 2008-acidity and supported by very well judged oak; pleasant hint of earthiness from the slightly heavier soils, silky and harmonious, drinking very well right now.
Relatively full colour; yellow apple, ripe, rounded and supple, mineral core, light on its feet but not tight or austere, hint of chamomile; excellent length. Very interesting style, not very complex.
Lovely ripe 1999 fruit, fully mature but still energetic, hint of cedar, tannins slightly on the firm side, generous but restrained, balanced and harmonious, touch of spice, lovely freshness, crushed red fruit, almost more like Margaux than like Graves.
Perfectly classical Saar Auslese, about halfway to maturity. Aromatic, wax, ripe fruit (peach, citrus), slate, delicately sweet, just a whiff of flowers, hint of bitters, well-balanced and harmonious, seamless, very good length. Attractive already but really could do with another ten to fifteen years in the cellar.
