  • 2012 La Chablisienne Sauvignon Saint-Bris

    France, Burgundy, Côtes d'Auxerre, Saint-Bris

    Medium yellow. Very pungent, "cat pee" nose. Fortunately, more appealing in the mouth, with tangy, pucker citrus and good minerality. Middle weight.

  • 2012 Roland Lavantureux Petit Chablis

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Petit Chablis

    Yellow. Musky citrus and oyster shell. Really bright orange zest with good feel and moderate acidity. Very good example and a good buy.

  • 2012 Francine et Olivier Savary Chablis Sélection Vieilles Vignes

    France, Burgundy, Chablis

    Medium yellow. Brothy, floral nose with fruit in the background. Typical Chablis flavors of ripe lemon. Good stoniness, moderate acidity. Rich attack, dry finish. Wood is pretty apparent, probably a bit too much so. Good effort, though.

  • 2011 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

    Light yellow. Lots of herbal aromas. Lovely supple feel with discrete use of wood-hallmark Raveneau texture. Vanilla and rising citrus, acidity and minerality. Great length, very fine and elegant. Tremendous showing.

  • 2010 Dominique & Romain Collet Chablis 1er Cru Montmains

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

    Medium yellow. Yellow apple aromatics. Here the fruit is downplayed on the palate with other classic Chablis elements in place. Noticeable wood, good length, some austerity to ameliorate. Good but I'm not crazy about the oak balance.

  • 2010 Dominique & Romain Collet Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

    Same tint as the Montmains. Riper pear and spice nose. Mouthcoating but lacier than that wine. Sweeter fruit (citrus and quince). Gently saline, average acidity, creamy finish. My clear preference in terms of the 2 Collet wines.

  • 2011 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses

    France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

    Light yellow. Salty, sea breeze nose. Wonderfully piquant and broth with nice mouth feel and little wood imprint. Poised and fine. Rising finishing citrus and an excellent youthful bite at the end. Very refined Grand Cru and a very high quality Preuses.

Closing

Many good wines, but today, the 2 expensive ones from Raveneau and Fevre really shone.
