    Chile, Maipo Valley, Puente Alto

    A little "muddy" nose with warm cheese, farts, rust and black currants. Weird.
    An aging black currant fruit with some rust on the palate but also a little blood. Nice acidity but overpowered by the dry aftertaste.

    Restrained black currant fruit on the nose which remains sharp and clean.
    Watery black currant fruit flavors with a slightly too dry aftertaste but still a solid wine.

    Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri, Bolgheri Sassicaia

    Flattering nose with mostly black currants and sewer but also a little black pepper and green bell-pepper.
    Dense black currant fruit and a hint of rust on the palate with a solid and well-structured balance.
    Leaves a polished and quite elegant impression.
    Definitely room for improvement which really surprised me!

    Lovely clean black currant fruit nose with a little sewer and pine needles.
    Polished and smooth black currant flavors with an impressive balance. Starting to show a little complexity but still very young.

    Nose: Forest floor, coffee, black currant + leaves. Lovely.
    Palate: Fresh and elegant black currant fruit, some mushrooms and wet leaves. Nice and mature.

  • 1996 Château Mouton Rothschild 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Lovely complex and intense fruity nose with a charming touch of dark chocolate. Some complexity of dirt, iron and rust is also coming through.
    Very fresh and intense young black currant fruit on the palate and generally it does feel a little restrained.
    The wine was easy to drink and enjoyable but with that name it was a little disappointing that it didn't perform better than this.

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

    Lovely deep, pure and intense nose with plenty of aged notes like sewer, old cheese, dust, earth.
    Some age showing in the palate but the creamy black currant fruit is still young and intense. Great flavors and complexity with sweet liquorice and raspberry fruit.
    Harmonic and very smooth wine that is really easy to fall in love with!

    Nice black currant fruit depth with some liquorice, sewer and black pepper.
    Very enjoyable and easy to drink with still lots of fruit and green herbs. Perhaps a little short aftertaste but a lovely wine.

    A little restrained nose but with a little black currant fruit and coffee.
    Intense young black currant flavors with a young sharp acidity. Some green herbs are also showing.
    It does seem a little to dry and rustic but otherwise a nice wine.

  • 1985 Château Lynch-Bages 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Perfumed and complex nose with lots of manure and black currant leaves. Some sweetness is shining through with a beautiful touch of coffee and lavender.
    Compact but a little closed on the palate with some black currant fruit. Something is lurking in the background which potentially makes this a very big wine.
    Quite young and young still with a huge potential.

    Lovely nose with candied nuts and a lot of orange, apricots and vanilla.
    Nice apricot intensity on the palate with some vanilla and coffee but with a minor bitterness on the end.

  • 1983 Château Gilette Crème de Tête 86 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

    Powerful chamomile style nose with flowers, mint but also some synthetic notes.
    On the palate it is starting to loose its sweetness which makes it a bit funny. Powerful bitterness in the aftertaste.
