Medium ruby color, not too deep as it is often the case with that kind of wine, open to business on the nose as well as on the palate: fruit driven (ripe cherry), lots of freshness. Classic entry level Grenache, made in a juicy and forward style. Ripe tannins and good medium finish. +++

70% Grenache / 30% Carignan. Good concentration, mouthwatering finish, some potential here but not as open and ready as the previous wine. ++(+)

2000 Domaine Vaquer Grenache Côtes Catalanes Exigence Flawed

Brown/tawny, looks passed it, light V/A on the nose, not much left on the palate but still a bit of grenache characteristic. Hot and acidic finish with hard tannins. I can't believe some top sommelier actually enjoyed that wine.

Aromatic (floral, rosemary), palate with strong personality, tasty, fresh, mineral and even with a bit of tannins, light but enjoyable oxydation, classic, good wine. +++

60% Grenache 40% Sauvignon (blanc?). Paler than L'Extreme 2012, nice nose (Rosted nuts, straw), good freshness on the palate. Very hard to guess the region and the blend blind. Interesting. +++

Nice label "from a retail point of view!" Mainly Grenache with 10% Syrah from high altitude 30 to 40 y.o vines. Deeply colored, some oak and leather on the complex nose, similar flavours on the palate, more rustic than suave, but some personnality. +++

Okish entry level CNDP here I think: Nose slightly disappointing, typical palate (sweet attack then roasted herbs, earth and black fruits), but alcohol a bit too obvious and lacks a bit of balance. ++(+)

2012 Château de Trinquevedel Vendanges Oubliées

About 800 bottles produced! Nose with small to medium intensity, slightly dirty and unfocused, somehow "cheninesque" , sweet exotic palate that lacks acidity, interesting but disappointing (I would like to try it again and why not in an other vintage). ++

19%, long ageing (Solera started in 1928) of approximately 50 years, clear amber color, complexe rancio nose and with similar palate: wallnuts, beewax, cognac, in a very very dry fashion. +++
