Introduction
A very fun evening of good food and great wine with the 'Ray crowd' for the second annual event. Many more wines were served than I captured notes on including a nice rose to start, mag of 88 Krug with the amuse, 76 BV and 82 Bon Pasteur later in the evening.
2003 Hyde De Villaine Chardonnay Special Reserve Single Clone Selection Hyde Vineyard 94 Points
USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
Full yellow color. Lovely pure forwad nose of liquid mineral and yellow fruit. Huge rich caramel sweet yellow fruit on the palate. Very nice - a clear step up from other HdV 'regular' chardonnays I've had in the past.

2002 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 94 Points

Pale yellow color. Medium mineral clean nose with hints of white flowers. Wow, lovely bright yellow fruit oozing minerality with layers of complexity. Will get even better. 94-95pts.

1999 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc De L'Orée 93 Points

Full golden yellow color. Rich forward aroma of apple pie and spice.. Rich unctuous round spicy yellow fruit with some dried herb notes on the palate.

1996 Château Tirecul La Gravière Monbazillac Cuvée Madame 96 Points

This was really singing this time - much better than past bottles I've had. Full copper golden color. Huge rich nose of butterscotch and botrytis. Incredible rich sweet uncutous brown sugar character on the palate with enough acidity to keep it balanced and a long botrytis finish.

1981 Château Coutet Cuvée Madame 93 Points
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Barsac
Full orange yellow color. Brigth medium nose of orange peel. Nice balanced acidity with nice fruit and a hint of acidity. Didn't have the richness or sweetness of the Tirecul next to it, but worked better with the foie because of the better acidity.

1988 Domaine des Chezeaux Griotte-Chambertin 94 Points

Pink red color. Wonderful classic burg nose of sweet red cherry, earth, and sous bois notes. Big red stone fruit with good acidity and leather notes on the palate. Probably my WOTN for the reds.

1989 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 90 Points

From mag. Another of the Jeckel/Hyde 89 Beaucastel. Unfortunately, this bottle turned out to be more of a Mr. Hyde... Pale crimson red color. Bretty nose of red fruit and spice hints. Bright tight cherry spice cake on the palate, but lacked the richness and great spice of better bottles. Brett seems to have 'bloomed' between when I opened it and when it was served several hours later.

1989 Marc Sorrel Hermitage Le Gréal 92 Points

I had higher hopes for this bottle given a couple more years of age. It was good, but not great. Full red purple color. Nice forward spicy red fruit aroma with anice notes. Nice rich spicy black cherry and currant fruit on the palate.

From mag. Full purple/red color. Forward rich aroma of blcak casssis and white pepper. Big bold tannic black fruit with a abit of jamminess on the finish. A baby, but good stuffing.
