We all couldn't believe we liked this as much as we did - especially everyone else Blackberries. Licorice, very black peppercorn spice. Darker subtle and brooding elements. What a killer wine. I mean, come on. Schrader delivers on just about every occasion I can remember. Meaty, savory, black olives. Black fruit, charcoal, game, smoked meat. Bitter and milk chocolate. Some blueberry compote. So very very complex. Cola, lovely finish. Long and resolved tannins. Dark chocolate cherry. Oh my goodness this was just utterly delicious. So layered and rich with fruit, earth, velvety floral components. A stunning wine that will age so effortlessly. Me: 3 Group: 5
Absolutely gorgeous wine. Overall it was the group's wine of the night in fact. Sweeter qualities. Cotton candy, pink flowers, brighter fruit, feminine in style. Subtle touch. Softer and more light on palate in a nice way. Exquisite balance and finesse. Me: 4 Group: 1
What a performer for me. Super creamy and culty. Really sweet cherries, raspberry, plush and feminine. Milk chocolate and sweet spice. Moderate body. Much more on the nose than a hand full of the others. Absolutely a pleasure to drink. Screams Napa Cab. Me: 2 Group: 8
Just when I thought the Schrader Georges III was a treat to unveil, the Original To-Kalon Vineyard form Schrader makes an appearance. And, for me, a wine of the night kind of appearance. Absolutely sublime. This is tiptoing the line of perfection as Schrader often does. Super elegant and royal. Cassis, leather, coal, super pretty. Palate is incredible. So much fruit coupled with flowers, massive doses of fresh horse saddle and touches of cocoa nibs. This is a pleasure to sniff and sip. The finish is perfect. Drinking very well now with a decant this will continue to evolve for a generation or two. Stunning. One of the best wines of the year for me. Me: 1 Group: 3
This is the other bottle of Craig at the tasting. The worse of the two by a couple points for me! The whole group agreed something was just odd about this wine. Menthol. Savory black olive. Licorice and smoked meat. but just odd in a dirty way. Dark chocolate. Touch of sour cherries. Short finish. Me: 10 Group: 10
